Chinese Consulate General in Penang Published Spring Festival Special Edition on Malaysian Media Kwong Wah Yit Poh for the First Time

On the Chinese New Year’s day of January 31, 2022, Chinese Consulate General in Penang published a Spring Festival Special Edition on Malaysian mainstream media Kwong Wah Yit Poh for the first time to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Tiger.

The special edition was titled “Bid farewell to the Year of Ox with Splendid Achievements, and Usher in the new vigorous Year of Tiger with the creation of new prospects”. It was divided into three main sections to review China’s development, China-Malaysia relations and some major, happy, and important events in the diplomatic work of Chinese Consulate General in Penang during the past year. Based on China’s first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and China’s embarking on a new journey towards the second centenary goal of building China into a modern socialist country in all respects, the special edition introduced China’s brilliant achievements in economic and social development, opening-up, major-country diplomacy, science and technology, environment protection, and addressing climate change in the year 2021, and expounded the Chinese path, China’s solutions, and China’s contribution. The special edition also introduced the fruitful results made by China and during the joint fight of the pandemic and the promotion of common development in the past year, as well as the economic and trade, cultural, educational, youth, and media exchanges and cooperation carried out by the Consulate General in the consular district.

The special edition published the full text of Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei’s Chinese New Year message. Consul General Mr. Lu Shiwei said in his message that looking back on the past year, we have a strong sense of pride. And now, we can look forward to a bright future. The year 2022 is a crucial year as the Chinese people are marching toward the second centenary goal of the country. The Communist Party of China (CPC) will convene the 20th National Congress of CPC. We will spare no effort to present a great Olympic Games to the world, stay committed to helping the global fight against COVID-19 pandemic, and promote global development. Facing the post-pandemic era, China is willing to join hands with Malaysia to fight the pandemic, seek common development, conduct high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and add new impetus to the development of China-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership. The Chinese Consulate General in Penang is willing to join hands with friends of all sectors of society in the consular district to upgrade the friendly cooperation at national and local levels between China and Malaysia to a new level. 

The special edition also introduced the Beijing Winter Olympics and the Beijing Winter Paralympics to the people in the northern states of Malaysia. The entire edition was in colored portfolio printing with pictures and texts, exquisite design, and detailed content. More than 100,000 copies of the special edition were distributed throughout Malaysia together with Kwong Wah Yit Poh newspapers, which aroused enthusiastic responses and positive comments from all sectors of society in the consular district.
